                                                                  MANAGER-SALES & MARKETING 

Our client is an international airline that is in the process of opening a station in the New York area.  They are seeking a Sales and Marketing Manager to join their US team at their New York operation. 

 Sales Related Responsibilities 

The employee’s specific duties and responsibilities related to “Sales” include but are not limited to the following:      

  • Provide all information to sales executives needed to sell the company to the travel trade as well as the corporate market including such items as briefing notices, PowerPoint presentations, current advice and information on matters pertaining to fares and changes within the company, route structure and product as may occur from time to time.  
  • Utilize MIDT data available to ensure that the sales executives are provided with adequate direction to increase sales and corporate accounts using this technology on a daily basis.   
  • Identify new business opportunities for the company, investigate, develop and follow through to implementation thereby growing revenues.     
  • Solve problems that occur at a travel agent level.   
  • Obtain BSP figures on a monthly basis to give the Sales team the market share of an agent as well as their support to the company.       
  • Provide all preferred clients with a summary of their previous month sales at a pre-established date each month.  Identify trends in sales summaries and interact with the client in a timely fashion to resolve issues that may have occurred and maintain / grow sales.    
  • Provide guidance and feedback regarding ticketing ability activation/deactivation of new/existing agencies in the market within BSP.     
  • Develop a plan and call activity for visiting travel agents and corporate clients on a monthly basis.·         Review work plans and sales reports submitted by the Sales Executives (Holiday Aviation) and keep track of trends in feedback and where necessary investigate and resolve issues that have been documented reverting to the Sales Executive in a timely manner.   
  • Represent and promote the company at events, functions and Travel shows.     
  • Conduct periodic meetings with the sales executives to address key issues and review goals / performance in specific areas.

Marketing Related Responsibilities 

  • The employee’s specific duties and responsibilities pertaining to “Marketing” include but are not limited to the following:      
  • Ensure that the corporate identity of the company is applied consistently in all marketing / sales material in accordance with the documented standard. 
  • Become involved in public relations duties as and when required.·     
  • Act as an alternate liaison to the press / media for the Country Manager.     
  • Assist in writing articles for trade publications.  
  • Product development and marketing for the corporate market as well as the development of quarterly news letters to the Corporate Data Base.   
  • Assist in the compilation of publications, multi-media presentations and promotional material.  
  • Coordinate promotions and special events, film shoots, launches, press trips etc.   
  • Process, manage and control all Trade Exchange Agreements.    
  • Assess all marketing proposals made to the company and make decisions about acceptance/rejection based on business sense and value opportunities for the company.     
  • Act as a liaison with partner airlines, car rental companies and hotel groups for product development, enhancement and follow through to implementation.    
  • Arrange local and international travel workshops and trade shows/fares.    
  • Act as a liaison as required with code-share partner carriers in the development and implementation of code-share agreements and fulfill the necessary marketing interface to optimize business opportunities. 

 Qualifications/Pre-Requisites  

  • Manager, Sales & Marketing must hold the following qualifications / experience deemed essential for the execution of responsibilities in this key role.    
  • Completion of post-secondary education in a travel related field.     
  • Hold at least ten (10) years experience in the Aviation / Travel Industry with minimum of (5) years at a mid to high management level in the Sales & Marketing area, holding accountability for both Sales and Marketing functions.      
  • Have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in the deployment of a sales force where sustainable growth has been achieved.  
  • Have utilized some form of intelligence such as MIDT data to direct a sales force and achieve increased sales in both the leisure and corporate markets.    
  • Have a demonstrated record of accomplishment with business negotiations and formulation of agreements to address negotiated items.   
  •  Have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in effectively managing subordinates.   
  • Have experience in developing and presenting high-level presentations to both internal and external customers / clients as may be required.    

Have a thorough knowledge of industry matters pertaining to but not limited to:   

Inventory distribution·        

 Reservations·     

 Revenue / Yield Management·  

Domestic and International airline industry and current industry trends / needs·  

  • Demonstrate high skill levels in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and be able to compile written documents, multi-media presentations and spreadsheets as may be required within the job description.    
  • Demonstrate excellent inter and intra personal skills in all communication arenas.    
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience with working in a code-share environment- particularly in the development and implementation phase.
